People seem to think that because apple crumble has oats in it that it is healthy...um no.. but you can make it healthier by using raw oats, wholemeal flour, sugar substitute or low GI sugar and low fat spread instead of butter.
Ingredients - serves 8 5-6 apples peeled, cored and sliced thinly (braeburn and granny smith apples are best to use) 150g raw oats 100g wholemeal flour 30g white flour 100g low fat spread, melted 2 teaspoons cinnamon
Preheat your own to 180C or 350F.
Place the apple slices into a pie dish around 20-22" in size.
Take a large bowl and add the dry ingredients and mix, pour in the low fat spread and mix well so that all the ingredients are wet, you should end up with a crumbly texture.
Sprinkle over the apples and bake until golden and the apples are tender.
Serve with yoghurt, sweetened ricotta, low fat icecream or low fat creme fraiche.
